Is there a Streaming Service for Nick Jr.?

Nick Jr. Channel provides educational and entertaining programming to preschoolers. Run by Paramount Global, Nick Jr. Channel is a by-product of Nickelodeon’s long running programming block of the same name. It was first introduced on September 28, 2009, and was created to be marketed to children. The channel is a mixture of programming originals and Nickelodeon’s weekday block. 

Noggin, a streaming service which was relaunched in 2015 and acts as a separate sister brand, was replaced by Nick Jr. Unlike Nick Jr., Noggin mainly offered pre-teen-oriented programs, and featured a variety of exclusive series. Nick Jr.

If you wish to stream Nick Jr without cable or satellite, there are several streaming services available such as Philo, Sling Blue TV, Vidgo Plus, and YouTube TV. Each service offers different features and benefits. Read this article to help determine which service works for your household.

Nick Jr. On Philo 

Nick Jr. is available on Philo for only $25 per month. This subscription gives you access to more than 60 popular broadcast and cable channels. Similar to other live TV streaming services, Philo doesn’t require a contract or a cable box.

The lower monthly price means you will have to do without your favorite live sports, news, and local channels. If you want to watch your local channels, we recommend this antenna.

With Philo’s base price, it still offers plenty of decent features. One of those, is the ability to add various packages.

There is a movie channel add-on which will cost you $3 a month. It includes Cinemoi, HDNet Movies, MGM HD, Reelx and Sony Movies.

There is also an option to add EPIX channel package which includes EPIX, EPIX2 and EPIX Hits for $6 on top of the base price monthly subscription.

Finally, for an additional $9 per month, you can enjoy the STARZ channel package, which includes STARZ, STARZ ENCORE, and STARZ Kids & Family.

Even though Philo is one of the least expensive streaming services, it has one of the better cloud DVR features among its competitors. It offers unlimited storage for recorded shows and movies. Moreover, Philo’s cloud DVR offers fast-forward and rewind functionality, so you can skip right through commercials on recorded content.

Philo is compatible with Amazon Fire TV devices, Android TV, Apple TV, Roku Devices, Chromecast with Google TV, Android phones/tablets, iPhones/iPads, and Amazon Fire Tablets.

Philo also allows concurrent streams on three different devices with 10 customized user profiles per household on a single subscription.

Although Philo is far from perfect, but there may be no better option than Philo if you need to stream on a budget. With it’s base price, you get more than 60 live channels, unlimited cloud DVR and the ability to stream on multiple devices at the same time.

Nick Jr. On Sling Blue

Sling TV is another option, if you want to stream Nick Jr. This service has two plans available.

Sling Blue, which has Nick Jr cost $35/month with about 45 additional channels, focuses more on news and entertainment programming.

Sling Orange has over 30 channels aimed at viewers who prefer family and sports programs and is also priced at $35/month.

Sling TV is competitively priced when compared to others in the market but you don’t have to sacrifice amenities.

You can simultaneously stream on up to 3 devices and you get 50-hour DVR storage. If that’s not enough, pay an additional $5 a month for 200 hours of storage.

You also have the option to modify your core plan into themed channel bundles without breaking the bank. With an extra $6 a month, you can catch your favorite shows on Kids Extra’s networks such as NickToon and Boomerang.

If you’re more into live sports coverage, you can pay an extra $11 a month, and add the Sports Extra bundle of 14 channels . This carries among others, the MLB network, ESPNU, Tennis Channels and NBA TV.

Premium add-ons will cost you between $3 and $10 on top of your monthly subscription  with over 30 channels to choose from.

Sling Blue offers a great deal to watch Nick Jr. It’s not as cheap as Philo and doesn’t have the unlimited DVR, but you can build on your package by combining a Sling Orange-Blue subscription for a discounted rate of $50/month.

Nick Jr. On Vidgo Plus

You can also stream Nick Jr. Channel on Vidgo Plus. Vidgo —being new in the live TV streaming industry, has great features you can enjoy.

It has more than 95 channels of entertainment, kids, lifestyle, news and sports. With its stellar dollar-to-channel ratio, it includes popular channels like HGTV and ESPN.

Although this live TV streaming service doesn’t offer DVR storage, it does have a feature called TV Everywhere which allows viewers to watch TV shows on-demand and on the go. Vidgo allows subscribers to watch content on up to 3 simultaneous streams.

Vidgo Plus is just one of the 3 plans Vidgo TV offers. Plus starts at $55 a month. While other plans such as Premium and Spanish are at $79.95 and $30 respectively.

The Vidgo Plus plan has over 100 channels including Nick Jr. which can be streamed Live and in HD. With your Plus subscription, you’ll be able to try their services for free for 7 days.

Similar to the other services reviewed, you can access Vidgo TV on iPhones, iPads, Apple TV, Android smartphones, tablets, Android TV, Roku devices and Amazon Fire TV devices. 

A Vidgo Plus monthly subscription is definitely more expensive than the subscription amount you’ll pay for Philo and Sling Blue. But if you have the money to spend for this Live TV streaming service, this could be a very good option to consider for the variety of channels, the extensive multiple device support, and an easy to use interface.

Nick Jr. on YouTube TV

YouTube is one of today’s most popular streaming platforms. It’s no wonder their sub service, YouTube TV is growing. YouTube TV which carries live TV and on demand video carries the Nick Jr. Channel. This streaming service also offers the Big Four broadcast networks ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox

With your base subscription, you will enjoy a variety of region-specific channels and programming including professional sports. In fact, Tube TV recently announced they would start airing Discovery Channels including Animal Planet, HGTV, Food Network, and more.

YouTube TV offers one plan at $64.99 a month. The plan includes 85 broadcast and cable networks, including ESPN, Food Network, and TNT.

Like Philo, YouTube TV offers unlimited Cloud DVR storage.

For an extra fee of $11 a month you can add a variety of premium channels such as Sports Plus.

If you want the Entertainment Plus bundle, this will be an additional $30 a month which includes HBO Max, Showtime, and STARZ.

You can choose to add stand-alone premium channels like EPIX for an additional $6/month, AMC+ for $7/month, and HBO Max for an $15/month.

YouTube TV also allows subscribers to simultaneously stream on up to three devices.

YouTube TV is $64.99/month and are offering a 14-day trial at the time of writing.

Even though Philo, Sing Blue, and Vidgo TV Plus may be the cheapest and most affordable options on this list, YouTube TV can be the most practical. It has the widest variety of channels to choose from, relatively easy add-ons and the longest trial period to see if this service works for you.

How can I watch Nick Jr for Free?

You cannot watch the entire Nick Jr. channel for free. However, all the streaming services mentioned in this article give you the option, for a limited time, to try their services for free. If you are looking to subscribe to these live TV streaming services, you’ll have the opportunity to test them. You can also stream some of your favorite Nick Jr shows for free on YouTube, the Nick Jr app and their website.

Does Amazon Prime have Nick Jr?

Nick Jr. is not being carried by Amazon Prime. However, Noggin, previously mentioned as Nick Jr.’s sister channel, is being hosted by Amazon Prime Video Channels where you can stream Dora the Explorer, PAW Patrol, and Blaze. These are available to Amazon users who are Noggin subscribers. Another option is to direct purchase individual episodes or series of Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. shows on Amazon.

Is Nick Jr Free on Roku?  

Nick Jr is free on Roku if you are subscribed to a participating TV provider. If not, you will have limited access and viewing option to the channel. A few episodes from Dora the Explorer, Peppa Pig, Blaze, Shimmer and Shine, and PAW Patrol can be viewed for free on Roku.
